Faith, Family and Freedom
My life has been defined by several important titles, but the ones I cherish most are child of God, father, husband, and American. My life is grounded in Faith, Family, and Freedom – values for which I am willing to hazard all. These aren't just words to me; they're the principles that guide my decisions every day.
Growing up in Danville, Illinois, I joined the Air National Guard at 18 and later earned a U.S. History degree from Eastern Illinois University before being commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 2000. September 11th, 2001, profoundly impacted me, as I took my first platoon that very day. My four-year enlistment turned into a career spanning five states and thirteen countries, culminating in my retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2021. Along the way, I earned a Masters in American History from Norwich University and, more importantly, learned invaluable lessons about leadership and the challenges we face. It was also through the Army that I met and married my amazing wife, Leah, and we welcomed our children, Jack (2018) and Hannah (2020).
Four years ago, we chose Trussville as our home. We've invested our time, resources, and energy here because we believe in this community. We're raising our family here, instilling in them the same Trussville values of Faith, Family, and Freedom that we hold dear. My military experience has taught me the importance of strategic planning, teamwork, problem-solving, managing budgets, complex contract negotiations and most importantly leadership under pressure. I'm ready to apply those skills to serve our community. I believe Trussville faces challenges of a growing community, and I have a vision for optimizing community growth that will ensure a brighter future for all of us.


Why I'm Running
Trussville: A Crossroads
I'm consistently amazed and inspired by Trussville's history. When I speak with lifelong residents, I often ask, "Did you ever imagine Trussville becoming what it is today?" Their responses, while varied, share a common thread of astonishment, excitement, and sometimes, apprehension. Yet, regardless of their individual perspectives, their voices are filled with endearment, hope, and a deep desire to see Trussville fulfill the dreams of generations past.
As a student of history, I understand that our present is a direct result of the decisions and actions of those who came before us. Their faithfulness, sacrifices, failures, and triumphs have shaped our community and brought us to this point. They built a city where people want to raise their families.
Today, Trussville stands at a crossroads. The choices we make over the next four years will determine whether the sacrifices of the past were in vain, or if they mark the beginning of a true golden age. I'm committed to ensuring the latter, and preventing a decline.
While I wasn't born in Alabama, or raised here in Trussville, I "married into it," so to speak. I fell in love with this city and its people during my second date with my wife, over nine years ago.
After retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel with over 20 years of service in the U.S. Army, my wife and I chose to raise our two children here. We chose Trussville not primarily for its schools, but because of its deep roots. Here, Faith, Family, and Freedom aren't just slogans; they are values woven into the fabric of the community. It’s a place residents are proud to call home, and a place they want their children to cherish. Trussville isn't just a house; it's HOME.
Like many of you, my wife, Leah, and I worry about losing that special Trussville to a vision that prioritizes growth over people. We want to see Trussville flourish and new families experience the same joys we have, but not at the expense of the citizens and business leaders who have worked so hard to make Trussville a desirable place to live and work.
Many have asked why I want to be involved. The answer is simple: I deeply believe that government of the people, by the people, and for the people is the greatest gift God has given us. But this form of government can only survive if we all do our part. Citizens must be informed and engaged. As Ronald Reagan said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same." If we don't invest our time and energy in our government, we risk being ruled instead of ruling.
In Isaiah 6:8, the Lord asks, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" Isaiah responds, "Here am I. Send me!"
With that same spirit, I humbly ask for your support. If you share my love for Trussville, let me be your voice and your champion. Together, we can ensure that Trussville remains a place where families can build their homes for generations to come.
